Shares of IT giant Infosys Limited surged sharply in the early trading hours on Thursday, July 2, 2026. Heavy buying ended the recent four-day painful decline in the country’s information technology sector. After several consecutive days of sharp declines, investors quickly returned to buy shares at lower valuations.

The equity opened the daily trading session at ₹1,006.40 on the National Stock Exchange. It quickly gained upward momentum, touching an intraday high of ₹1,040.60 by the morning. This sharp price movement represented a gain of more than ₹52 per share compared to its previous closing figure.

The stock had closed the previous trading session at ₹985.30 on Wednesday. As of 11:30 am, the market price was around ₹1,038.40, representing a net gain of 5.39%. Trading volumes surged significantly during this surge, with over 9.22 million shares transacted on exchange platforms in the early hours.

Other major software companies, such as Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Wipro, also made significant gains. Market analysts attributed this sudden turnaround to intense value-buying as domestic traders saw the recent tech correction as an attractive entry window.

This recovery occurred despite weak signals from international technology markets. Overnight, Wall Street saw modest losses, primarily due to weakness in US semiconductor and chip manufacturing stocks. Similarly, major Asian technology brands in South Korea and Taiwan also saw significant corrections as global institutional investors locked in profits.

With this latest price recovery, the Bangalore-based software exporter’s total market capitalization has reached approximately ₹4.30 lakh crore. Market data shows that the stock is currently trading well below its 52-week high of ₹1,728. Conversely, it remains comfortably above its 52-week low of ₹982.40, which was recorded during the recent macro volatility.

The firm displays a strong financial profile based on its audited statements for the last quarter of the previous financial year. For the quarter ended March 2026, the tech major posted consolidated sales revenue of ₹46,402 crore. Net profit during the same three-month period reached ₹8,509 crore, supported by an operating profit margin of 24%.

According to official corporate documents, the company is scheduled to announce its next financial results on July 23, 2026. Market participants are eagerly awaiting these upcoming quarterly statements to gauge the overall health of enterprise spending and verify whether demand for artificial intelligence is translating into core corporate revenue.

The company’s shareholding records show that domestic institutional investors hold the largest single block of equity at 43.38%. Foreign institutional investors hold 28.45%, while public retail investors hold 11.43%. The company’s promoters have fixed ownership of 14.38% of the total outstanding equity base.
