Milky Mist Dairy Food made its stock market debut on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, and investors had reason to smile. The Erode-based dairy company’s shares opened at ₹165 on both the NSE and BSE, a jump of ₹25, or 17.86%, over its issue price of ₹140. The stock kept climbing after listing and hit its 10% upper circuit limit of ₹181.45 on the BSE.

At the opening price, the company’s market value stood at ₹12,702.42 crore. That’s a strong start for what turned out to be a hugely popular offering. This is the largest IPO ever launched by an Indian dairy company, beating out listed rivals such as Parag Milk Foods, Hatsun Agro Product, and Dodla Dairy in terms of size.

Investor appetite for the issue was massive. The IPO, which ran from August 10 to August 13, received bids for over 459 crore shares against just 8.17 crore shares on offer, meaning it was subscribed 56.12 times over. Institutional investors led the charge. The qualified institutional buyers’ portion alone was subscribed 155.83 times, while non-institutional investors bid 34.91 times the shares reserved for them.

Before the public offer even opened, big money was already backing the company. On August 9, Milky Mist raised ₹465.29 crore from 19 anchor investors, who were allotted 3.32 crore shares at ₹140 apiece. The overall issue size came to roughly ₹1,553 crore, split between a fresh issue and an offer for sale, with a price band fixed at ₹133 to ₹140 per share and a minimum lot of 107 shares.

So how did the actual listing compare to expectations? Grey market chatter had suggested a gain of around 14-15%, but the stock beat that on debut. In the days before listing, the grey market premium had swung between ₹15 and ₹35, with the final indicative premium settling near ₹19-24 ahead of the August 18 debut.

On the financial side, the company has been growing fast. For the twelve months ended March 31, 2026, Milky Mist Dairy Food posted consolidated net profit of ₹127.01 crore on sales of ₹3,138.36 crore. That’s a big jump from the previous year, when profit stood at ₹46.07 crore on revenue of ₹2,354.79 crore — a 176% rise in profit and roughly 34% growth in sales year-on-year.

Founded in Erode, Tamil Nadu, by T. Sathish Kumar, Milky Mist Dairy Food has built its business around value-added dairy products rather than liquid milk. Its lineup includes paneer, cheese, curd, yogurt, butter, ghee, ice cream, frozen foods, chocolates, and ready-to-eat items, sold under the Milky Mist brand along with sub-brands like SmartChef, Capella, Briyas, and Asal. As of March 2026, the company’s portfolio spanned 22 product categories and 640 SKUs.

Milky Mist Dairy Food runs on a farm-to-retail model, sourcing raw milk directly from about 67,615 farmers across 22 districts in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka, all within a 400-kilometre radius of its main manufacturing plant in Perundurai.

Looking ahead, the company plans to use IPO proceeds to repay or prepay existing borrowings, modernize and expand its Perundurai facility, and strengthen its cold-chain network. Part of the funds will also go toward new plants for whey protein concentrate, yogurt, and cream cheese, along with ice cream freezers, chocolate coolers, and general corporate needs.

Analysts have pointed to Milky Mist Dairy Food’s roughly 33.6% revenue growth rate and near-32% return on equity as reasons behind investor enthusiasm, alongside its leading position in India’s value-added dairy segment.
